Change your YouTube channel name and description

You can make changes to your YouTube channel name and description to keep viewers informed. Changes you make to your channel name will also show on your Google Account.

Note:
If your school or business manages your account, you can get in touch with your system administrator to change your channel name.

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Customization and then Basic info.
3. Click Edit to update your YouTubechannel name.
4. Enter your new YouTube channel description.
5. Click Publish.

You can only change your YouTube channel name 3 times every 90 days.

Use a different name on YouTube than Google

To use a different name on YouTube than your Google Account, you can create a Brand Account and connect it to your channel. Learn how to create a Brand Account. Then, connect your YouTube channel to a Brand Account.

Translate YouTube channel name & description

You can add translations for your YouTube channel name and description to help your videos reach a global audience.

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Customization and then Basic info and then ADD LANGUAGE.
3. Select the Original language, then select the Translation language.
4. Enter the translations for your YouTube channel name and description.
5. Click DONE.

Add links to your banner image on YouTube channel

You can highlight up to 5 site links on your YouTube channel homepage. Your links will show on your banner image for viewers to see from a computer.

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Customization and then Basic info.
3. Click Add link and enter the title and URL of your YouTube site.
4. Select Links on banner and choose which links you’d like to display.
5. Click Publish.

Add contact info on your YouTube channel

You can add contact info to your YouTube channel to let others know how to contact you for business inquiries.

1. Sign in to YouTube Studio.
2. From the left menu, select Customization and then Basic info.
3. At the bottom, enter your email address.
4. Click PUBLISH.

You can no longer edit your YouTube channel icon or channel art on mobile devices. Use a computer to follow the instructions below.

Change your YouTube channel name

Your YouTube channel name is the name on your Google Account. To change your channel name, you’ll need to change the name on your Google Account:

1. In the mobile app, tap your profile picture.
2. Tap Your Channel.
3. In the right corner of your YouTube channel page, tap Settings .
4. On the right, tap Edit .
5. Enter your updated name and tap OK.

Keep in mind…

• You can only change your YouTube channel name 3 times every 90 days.
• If you change the name on your Google Account, it will change across all Google services, like Gmail. 
• After changing your name, it may take a few days for the new name to update and display across YouTube.
• If you’ve translated your YouTube channel name with channel translations, you’ll need to update the translations with your new name.

Your YouTube channel description shows on the “About” tab of your channel page.
